Access to Children & Premises

Kids Come First Child Care Services (Kids Come First) will ensure that we do not prohibit a parent from having access to their child or children at any of our child care programs or from accessing the premises when their child or children is in care.

POLICY
Kids Come First will not prevent a parent or guardian from having access to his or her child except if the person believes on reasonable ground that the parent does not have a legal right of access to the child.

Kids Come First will not prevent a parent or guardian from entering the premises while child care is being provided except:

  • If a person believes on reasonable ground that the parent does not have a legal right of access to the child;
  • If a person believes on reasonable grounds that the parent could be dangerous to the children at the premises; and/or
  • If the parent is behaving in a disruptive manner.

Staff should report a disruptive person or a person believed not to have access to a specific child to their Supervisor or designate as soon as possible. If it is an emergency situation – Call 911 immediately.

If the parent is involved in a custody dispute or has a current custody agreement that involves a child currently attending the program, the parent must report this information to the Supervisor/Executive Directors. If there is a custody agreement on file, the Staff are better able to ensure that the child is released only to the proper individuals.
