In 2022, the federal and provincial governments signed the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) Agreement. This plan will work toward making child care more affordable for families.
Kids Come First has opted into this plan for any location that has children Kindergarten age and younger. (KCF @ Julliard does not qualify at this time). By participating in the new system, Kids Come First will be able to reduce fees for parents of eligible children. To be eligible for lower child care fees, children must be enrolled in a licensed centre that chooses to participate in the CWELCC system.
Who is eligible?
- All children younger than six years are eligible until the last day of the month they turn six years old
Reduced Fees
Families with a child of eligible age (and as long as KCF participates and is approved in the program) will see the reductions as based by the government. In 2022 25% fee reduction was applied. In 2023 an additional 37% fee reduction was applied. Please contact the centre for the current fee schedule.
Families receiving fee subsidies from the Region of York will have their parental fees reviewed and adjusted directly.
Any changes to the reduction or in the event that Kids Come First decides to opt out of CWELCC, KCF will provide notice to the families. Families shall be responsible for 100% of their fees should CWELCC funding be discontinued.
