Statutory Holidays and School Closings

Kids Come First observes the following holidays and will be closed on the following days:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Family Day
  • Good Friday
  • Easter Monday
  • Victoria Day
  • Canada Day
  • Civic Holiday
  • Labour Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day
  • Boxing Day

Kids Come First will be closed between Christmas and New Year’s as well as any days the York Region District School Board is closed and the caretakers are not in attendance. The fees are averaged out on a monthly basis; therefore there is no reduction in fees for any closures or holidays during any month of the year including December.

Unless otherwise posted, Kids Come First resumes the first day the children return to school in accordance with the school schedule.

A full day School Age program during March break & and part of the December break will be developed based on the needs of the community and the space within the School. Based on the number of children enrolled for P.A days and holiday breaks several programs may need to be combined in order for a program to run. The staff will post a notice reminding parents of any closures or changes in location.

Please be aware that the major source of funding which keeps Kids Come First in operation is parental fees. Parents are charged for all days regardless of the child’s attendance. The fees will not be adjusted in any way for statutory holidays, program closings, student absences or family vacations.

***Full day childcare programs are open for 12 months and the Before and After School programs are open for 10 months throughout the year. An optional camp program will be available in the summer.
